What is the Pick-Up Game Club?
Go outside and play! Once that meant organizing a group of your friends and playing a pick-up game at the local park. Kids self organized and enjoyed playing together, but we live in a place and time where pick-up games don't just happen.
There is value in being part of a team. Learning to work with others, communicating and contributing to the whole.
Kids sports can define family life in our culture but we think it doesn't have to. The reason we started this soccer group was to create a place for families who wanted their kids to learn the pleasure and basics of soccer, without soccer taking over their weeknights and weekends. In addition, having K-5th graders all playing at the same place and time eliminates a lot of running around. Now that is valuable!
Have your kids ever asked to do soccer drills? We teach soccer in such a way that kids develop skills as they play instead of through drills. These fun soccer sessions will cover ball handling games, playing basics and a weekly scrimmage. (Teens spend the whole hour scrimmaging)
We believe you learn to like something first, then want to do the work to improve, not the other way around.

Does being yelled at motivate you to improve? We don't think it does for kids either. That's why Pick-Up soccer coaches don't yell at them. They see through playing that passing and getting open help advance their team. We have coaches to help the game stay fun and keep to the basic rules, but in the pick-up game format, kids learn by playing the game.
Some kids will learn to love soccer and want to participate in a more intense league that does more drills to hone their skills. Others will enjoy the game and just want to keep playing for fun. Some will learn that soccer isn't their thing but can still participate in a team sport for 6 hours and learn valuable teamwork skills. Plus, their families won't have had to spend a lot of time and money to find out that soccer isn't their thing.
We also want your kids to see that they can play soccer with you! During the last game, parents will be invited to join the fun and play with the kids. Tie up your running shoes, these kids will make you run!
Whatever your kids soccer or team sport experience, they can play in the Pick-Up Soccer Club.
No experience necessary!

Soccer Days
We play simultaneous games with each age group. Eight or nine kids will be on each team with no sitting out. Each session will include fun ball handling warm up and a scrimmage. Kids will be able to try out the different positions during the weekly game.
Kids are required to bring a size 3 or 4 ball and shin guards. Shin guards are important as getting kicked in the shin is very painful and is enough to dissuade a child from engaging in the soccer fray. Tight lace up footwear is required, cleats are optional. The cost is $32 for 6 weeks and payable online on the sign-up page. Parents must remain on site. This provides for you to be there if your child gets injured or needs attention. You get free entertainment and the pleasure of watching your kids play. Coaches have accountability and are never alone with kids. Kids will be required to show good sportsmanship to students and respect for the coaches in speech and action. |

"I heard about Pick Up Game Club and knew that it was something that would be great for our family, but we didn't live close to an existing club. So why not start one in our area? I was hesitant because we were new to our area and didn't know anyone yet, but with Allie's encouragement and guidance it was super easy to start up! She walked me through each step of setting it up and even helped me connect with other people in our area. We're two weeks into our soccer season and it has been fantastic. The kids are having a blast learning as they play, it's low-stress for our family, and an added bonus is that we have 30 new friendships!"
